tongs

The surf in town this week has been good.  There has been a bump in the swell pretty much since Tuesday and another one came in again today.

At the same time the wind has died down so it is making for glassy conditions and warm water.  YES PLEASE.

It was a funky day at Diamond Head.  It seems like the wind got on it although there was no wind on the way there.  As you can see from the pictures it was completely choppy.  There actually was a bump and a few fun size waves in the chest high range, but they were coming from every direction.  I actually had more luck sitting inside a little vs the way outside.  Although it was funky it was still kinda fun for what it was.  Not too crowded because of the surf.  I checked Tongs too thinking it was more protected but the only taker was a 4man canoe from the Outrigger Canoe Club.

Met friends down at the outrigger but I was late so I paddled out at Kaimana to surf Old Man's.  Got out there and it basically was not breaking.  Long paddle on a 7'0".  Good news was I met them at the windsock and they were in a 4 man canoe.  They already had 5 in the boat so why not add a 6th with a board right?  Got a free taxi ride from them over to Tongs.  Tongs was windy and choppy.  It was all over enough that it was hard to judge.  They caught some great waves in the canoe.  Made me determined to get a few.  Finally just before the sun went down I got two fun ones.  Acutally a pre

Its been a good week of surf on the South Shore of Oahu this week.

I was fortunate enough to get in 5 days in a row.  Wendesday was the biggest and I hit Diamond Head.  The reports called for 3-5+ ft.  I would call it head high with some overhead sets.

I ended up surfing at Tongs today for two hours and it was great.  It's a long paddle out on a 7'0" but well worth it.  Clean, and the wind had died down and should to head high sets.
